More Than 1,000 Hours Testing Treadmills

Our primary goal is to evaluate fitness equipment to ensure that you do not need to. We offer honest and honest reviews to aid you in building your perfect home fitness center. Our team is comprised of trained personal trainers with certification, marathon runners, and triathletes who understand the basics of running.

Our test participants have run hundreds of miles using various treadmills. We have put together and tested the other treadmills within the Studio line thoroughly, which gives us the confidence that, when combined with our extensive research, we will be able to give you the most thorough analysis of this product.

A Quick Look at the Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill

In contrast to high-end treadmills, Horizon treadmill models aren’t associated with modern technology. Instead, they’re marketed as durable, reliable machines that can last for a long time.

The Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill model is the most expensive in Horizon’s Studio Series line. It only includes a few extra options that you don’t find on the Horizon 7.4 AT Treadmill review, which include a larger capacity for weight, a larger screen, and buttons for media control.

The company describes this as the “runner’s dream,” and there are several reasons to support. There is, firstly, connectivity to fitness apps such as Zwift and Peloton to allow interactive programming.

Horizon also has what they refer to as a “Rapid Sync” motor that reacts quickly to any changes in speed or the incline. The large deck for running, which measures 60 inches long with a width of 22 inches, is also a great area for those wanting to increase their speed.

Why I Like the Horizon 7.8 AT/Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill Review

Horizon Fitness 7.8 AT Treadmill is a powerful device that is enjoyable to use, priced at $1,999. It is packed with features that range from Bluetooth speakers to a USB charging port to a multi-position tablet holder, as well as an accessory tray.

The 2025 model is designed to be compatible with many applications and built-in software. If you prefer to work out in conjunction with virtual programming or just listen to music, the 7.8 AT Horizon Treadmill is designed to accommodate your needs.

It’s a big, solid machine; it will take up a bit of space, and this is something you’ll need to take into consideration when you are putting it in your home. However, it’s a foldable unit and, like I’ve said previously, one of the advantages of folding units is how easy they are to clean and maintain.

When you view it strictly from a purely running perspective, it checks all the boxes. It comes with a bigger-than-average running deck that is perfect for high-intensity training. The top speed is 12 mph, and a maximum climb of 15 degrees is enough to keep you going on the move and burning off plenty of calories.

The unit is equipped with a 4.0 CHP motor, and its output is fantastic. An LED/TFT display makes an enormous improvement in readability, with the white counters, which are simple to read. Its graphed indicator colors make a statement and make the screen easy to read at a glance.

Footprint, Portability and Durability/Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill Review

The Horizon 7.8 AT Folding Treadmill is quite the tank, with a weight of 300 pounds. Although it does come with wheels for transport, it’s difficult to move. Make sure you intend to place your treadmill close to an outlet, as it will need to be connected.

Additionally, it occupies an area of 76 by 37 by 64 inches. This is a space of 6 feet by 3 feet when folded. Fortunately, it’s a treadmill that folds. When you utilize the folding device, its length will be reduced by 3.5 feet.

One thing we were impressed with when we tested the Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill was the weight capacity of 325 pounds. This is among the top in the market.

Console/Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill Reviews

The biggest improvement available in the Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill is the new 9.3-inch full-color display screen. The previous model was only seen with LCD screens of a basic design. This new design isn’t able to be used for training programs interactively, but it displays the essential running and workout information in a crisp and clear way that is more impressive than its counterparts.

Similar to the 7.4 AT Horizon Treadmill, it has a ledge over the display that allows users to put their phones or tablets if they choose to follow along with a video training program. If I’m using a smartphone or tablet, the edge on the lower part of the shelf is very secure, so it’s not a slide or slip when I’m using it.

Solid Parts/Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill Reviews

One thing you must acknowledge regarding these Johnson Fitness machines, they don’t cut corners on their components. Their metal rollers within their treadmills are top-of-the-line, as are their motors. There’s a reason why they provide lifetime warranties on their motor and frame.

I’m always impressed by companies that offer this type of guarantee. As long as you take care to maintain the treadmill with care, it’s not a reason to ever replace the Horizon treadmill, which means it will last for more than 10 years. This is further demonstrated by the treadmill’s maximum weight limit of 325 pounds. This alone indicates that it’s a sturdy machine.

Easy to Fold and Move/Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill Review

Despite this treadmill weighing 325 pounds, it’s simple to fold it into the folded position, then take it off. It’s not just an ideal vehicle for transporting and accessibility to maintenance. One thing to consider before purchasing an exercise machine is what you’ll accomplish if you ever decide to dispose of it.

Be aware that it’s much easier to transport a treadmill that folds out of your home completely put together than a non-folding treadmill. It is necessary to disassemble the unit that isn’t folding in pieces, while when you’ve picked a suitable location for the folding treadmill, it might be possible to roll it out of the way.

Ordering and Assembling the Horizon AT Treadmills

We purchased the Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill on the internet, and it is also possible to use the 7.8. If you’re using Horizon, you can opt for financing your treadmill at twelve, 18, 24, or 56-month intervals.

If you have your 7.8 delivered to your home, the weight will be around 391 pounds. It will be shipped in a big box. As the treadmill is very heavy, it is recommended that you bring two people in your household, or get an option with white gloves, if it is available (available for $299).

It’s important to note that when it came to assembling the 7.4 test unit, our testers noted that it took more than an hour to build; however, it was fairly simple thanks to someone else.

The company also provides 30 days of money-back guarantee.

Is the Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill Worth It?

We’ve provided you with the basics about the treadmill, but now comes the most important question: Is this treadmill worth the price? It’s priced roughly the same as that of the NordicTrack Commercial 1750, with the ability to display a touchscreen as well as decline (but you must sign up for a monthly contract to access streaming content).

Ideal for:
  • Anyone looking for a treadmill to run on
  • People who are tall or newbies who require space to move around
  • People who would rather have a tablet over touchscreens
Not advised for:
  • People who are looking to defer training
  • People who are constrained by space

Technology/Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill Review

Although it’s not a touchscreen display, the LCD display screen and LED in the Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill let you keep track of speed, distance, and incline, in addition to other parameters. There are also 10 programs to follow that mostly follow the Horizon’s Sprint 8 HIIT Training program. Horizon also lets you join other fitness applications like Peloton and Zwift.

You can set up your own smartphone or tablet on the treadmill without hindering your workout. The treadmill can be connected via Bluetooth and includes heart rate monitors as well as chest straps that provide exact information.

Our Take on Working Out With the Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill

As we mentioned earlier, we haven’t yet tested Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill; however, we are familiar with the other products from the series. Our team has gathered the 7.8, run on, and experienced the products, which gives us an insight into the 7.8.

Based on our experts’ online reviews and hours of research, we believe we can provide you with an accurate idea of exactly how 7.8 runs. For example, we know that both the 7.4 and 7.8 are the same size running deck, which is 42 inches across and 60 inches tall! This is great for runners who are tall and find themselves having to reduce their stride length on other treadmills.

Although Horizon does not specifically state the power of their motors on their website, our research suggests that their 7.8 motor has 4.0 CHP (continuous horsepower). This is a differentiator we’ve found in other models of this line (research indicates that the 7.4 is running in 3.5 CHP, and 7.0 runs at 3.0 CHP).

If you’re not familiar with much concerning motors, the only thing you have to do is 4.0, which is the top of the line. The powerful motor makes it ideal for HIIT programming, or running your treadmill continuously at the highest speed. It is not necessary to be concerned about the motor consuming too much energy or requiring much maintenance.

When we tested the 7.4 AT, we found it to be fairly quiet. No treadmill will be quiet; however, we like the fact that these treadmills don’t produce the noise that you can hear in gyms that are commercial.

Why You Should Trust Us/walking treadmill reviews

The team we have of trainers, as well as product testers, has been reviewing and testing treadmills for many years. Each treadmill we recommend has been subjected to our rigorous testing procedure. We put a lot of time into every treadmill, evaluating its capabilities and features. We also test each model with other treadmills similar to it.

Conclusion:

Overall, it’s an excellent choice for a basic, low-tech power treadmill. It’s a great treadmill, but it has a steep cost of about $2,000. At that cost, it is typical to see higher tech features like screens and streaming native apps.

If you’re in search of an affordable treadmill, it’s not it. If you’re looking for an item that performs well and lasts for a long time, is constructed to last, and comes with a lifetime guarantee, it could be a good choice.

The treadmill's speed of 7.8 mph is equivalent to a speed of 7 minutes, 42 seconds/mile (or four minutes and 47 seconds for each one kilometer ). If you run at this speed, you could complete the 5K in less than 24 minutes, and a 10K within about 48 minutes.

The 7.8 AT comes with an 9.3 inches LED/TFT screen as opposed to the 7.4 AT, which sports an 8.25 inches LCD screen. It also comes with a 3.5 HP motor. 7.8 AT also features a 4.0 HP motor, which is different from 7.4 AT's 3.5 HP motor in the 7.4 AT.

A great rate for a beginner to follow is conversational pace --a speed that slows down to the point where you could easily talk in complete sentences with no gasps. For the majority of new runners, this means an easy pace of 10-12 minutes for each mile (6:15 to 7:48 for a km)

You can stream on-demand fitness classes as well as track your heart rate using modern Bluetooth connectivity and speakers integrated. Some of the applications that can be used with this treadmill include Studio, Peloton, and AFG.

Customer Reviews for The Horizon 7.8 AT Treadmill

The treadmill is fantastic. I'm 6' 260, and I am running at 7 mph, but it isn't moving.I would put it in the same category as a fitness club structure. The only downside is that the deck that DL walks is a distinct component from the control panel. If you tilt the deck, the control panel isn't able to move. It isn't able to keep your grip on the control panel as most gym users do when they are on an incline. It's an amazing machine to date. There are only 10 miles left on the machine. It was not a lot of work to put together. Make sure you keep a few minutes after the completion of the assembly process to tighten all screws and bolts. This will stop the stripping

I ordered this item and had it delivered through Amazon. This was a hassle from the moment I placed my order. It was expected to arrive before Christmas but was not, but it was fine, no issue. When it finally arrived, the delivery men contracted by the company could not move the box. The box was delivered with half open, which made me wonder whether they had dropped it. When my husband put it together, I used it, and it almost turned upside down due to the part that sits under the treadmill, which you can adjust the angle of.
Lillian Moore
I've owned this machine for two weeks now, and my whole family enjoys it. I didn't require a treadmill with an uninteresting display because we did not need it, and the screens are a joke. The speed is very quick to adjust, and so is the incline. The treadmill is extremely comfortable and easy to walk on. There is a slight squeak, but I'm not sure that I have to adjust the speed or otherwise. I'm not sure what caused it. There were negative reviews of shipping or customer service, but we received excellent service with Horizon FedEx. Horizon FedEx was a little difficult, but they managed to deliver what we wanted. I would highly recommend the AT 7.8
Graham Bennett
Horizon installed and delivered our treadmill a little over one month ago, but it did not turn on. It's been sitting there, and customer support has been a complete problem in getting it fixed. the way it was returned. Please save your money and make a purchase elsewhere. Horizon isn't concerned about its customers; they just want to make a quick buck.
