Bowflex M6 Review 2026 – Walking Treadmill Reviews

()

Introduction

When you imagine an elliptical exercise, what image do you have in mind? Most likely, you think of flowing, long steps on a big machine that’s an alternative to low-impact aerobic exercise like running or walking. Most likely, few people think of high-intensity cardiovascular exercises; however, when we write the Bowflex M6 review will show you exactly the kind of workout you can get with one of the top exercise bikes available.

Our experts have evaluated over 30 ellipticals as well as stair steppers, because, yes, the Bowflex Max Trainer M6 certainly blurs the boundary between an elliptical and a stair stepper.

A certified personal trainer, as well as BarBend Kate Meier, a member of our editorial team, spent a whole month testing different workouts that the Bowflex M6 Max Trainer can offer (after building it at home) and believes it’s going to be ideal for athletes who are constrained on space, and who want quick and intense exercises. Read on for our full evaluation of the Bowflex Max Trainer M6 Elliptical to find out if it’s worth it in your case (it was designed for Meier).

Is the Bowflex Max Trainer M6 Worth It?

This Bowflex M6 Max Trainer is a solid but small elliptical with distinctive features that offer solid value for your home gym. The smaller dimensions may attract certain athletes, specifically those wanting to maximize the benefits of smaller training spaces. It isn’t a traditional elliptical exercise. This is who I think this machine is ideal for and why you might prefer something else:

Workout Experience Using the Bowflex Max Trainer M6

Its Blowflex Elliptical M6 is designed around the rate of burn, that is, how many calories you’ll burn through an exercise. Bowflex says you will generate more calories with the M6 than have if you were to spend the same amount of time using an elliptical that is not a traditional one, and our tester, Kate Meier from NASM-CPT. USAW-L1, CF.L1. Be able to agree with this assertion.

“This machine is designed specifically with HIIT training in mind,” she claims. “The workouts are mostly 15 minutes or shorter, but they give you an intense burn.”

While the Blowflex MAx M6 is a non-impact workout machine, its HIIT design makes it possible to strengthen your muscles more than an elliptical. Kate described her M6 workouts as the type of workouts she can get from the AirBike; both provide a full-body workout that feels like cardio but also an euphoric feeling of building muscle while working out.

Equipment that’s light and easy to move – Comparatively with other home cardio machines (treadmills, cables, etc.), it’s light. It’s simple to move from one place to another. Although you’ll require a separate space to store the M6, should you want to move your space from one area to another, it’s feasible to do so independently.
The M6 is a great choice for those who are uncomfortable with a treadmill – Even treadmills at home with a high cushioning capacity are uncomfortable for those who have joint problems or injuries. The Bowflex M6 offers an exercise that is more challenging than an elliptical and less jarring than a treadmill.
Engage the Whole Body With The M6 – Max Trainers are designed to incorporate every major muscle group in your training. Through incorporating legs and arms as well, the core muscles are naturally involved. Through full-body workouts, you will reduce calories, strengthen connective tissue, and increase cardiovascular endurance.
Ideal for quiet spaces – This is a silent piece of home fitness equipment. With its fluid drive mechanism, it can swiftly move around without having to step on a tread belt or lift or lower the slope.
Monitoring of heart rate – Bowflex Max Trainer M6 is equipped with a free Bluetooth chest strap to allow the monitoring of heart rate.

Console/Bowflex M6 Review

The Bowflex M6 Max Trainer comes with two LCD/LED screens. The LCD screen shows your personal data, like distance, time, and resistance levels, among others. The LED screen resembles the speedometer and is adjusted in accordance with what you call your “Burn Rate,” which is the amount of effort you’re putting in at any given moment.

Since the Bowflex M6 Elliptical offers focused training, you’ll be required to reach the desired level of burn within the exercise itself. This makes it easy to train in intervals since it is clear the location you’re supposed to be before and after every interval. A Burn Rate Monitor will help users remain focused as they can follow the arrow at where you areor where they have to be.

Frame/Bowflex M6 Reviews

The Bowflex M6 frame is supported by two stabilizers (front and rear) and two center beams. In between the stabilizers on the rear and front are four levelers that can be individually adjusted to ensure that your trainer sits securely on the floor, without shifting or bouncing.

Two wheels are located on one side of the device, so you can roll and tilt it to the desired position. The pedal legs are attached to the frame and are moved along the handlebars. The left and right pedals are connected directly to frame assemblies, which means that when one pedal moves, the other follows suit.

The broad, comfortable foot pedals are designed with an elevated rim, so that your foot doesn’t slide forward or move from side to side when you walk. It also has an edging for the stability of your foot and for traction. The handlebars and the pedals are able to move in tandem, which results in an extremely coordinated experience when in use.

There is some sound while using the Bowflex M6 Max trainer, and you should be conscious of it. When the handlebars and pedals move, it makes a bit of a “whooshing” noise that increases according to your cadence. It’s not as quiet as other ellipticals/stairsteppers. But it does feel fairly stable, with only a little movement.

Build Quality/Bowflex M6 Review

Bowflex’s website does not specify the exact materials used or the quantity; however, our test subjects noted that the M6 was constructed from a significant amount of plastic. Its motor covers, pedals, and the console’s cover are made from it.

Plastic isn’t the best-performing material. The warranty only covers damage to the frame within two years. Therefore, we’re pointing out Bowflex’s excessive utilization of this material. Our test participants did not notice any flaws or broken components upon delivery. After a long period of usage, Meier thinks the M6 is able to last for a long time if you take good, proper care. Overall, she gives an M6 4.5 from 5 in terms of longevity.

“The floor stabilizers come in handy,” Meier adds. “If it starts to rock during a particularly intense workout, it’s not a disaster — just make some quick adjustments with the stabilizers, and you’ll be good to go again.”

Workout Intensity/Bowflex M6

Yes, you can train for the length you want using the Bowflex M6; however, the majority of the pre-programmed are targeted towards intense interval training (or HIIT). Meier states that the majority of workout programs are brief — under 15 minutes in the majority of cases. The Bowflex Max trainer line is renowned for its 14-minute interval training, which lets users run for 25 seconds before taking a stop for about 80 seconds.

The consensus among members of the team who worked out using M6 Bowflex is that it will knock your butt. ” I work out often, and the initial level of resistance added a sense of intensity to my exercise. Turn the resistance up to 16, and you’ll feel as if you’re moving through a sandstorm,” one tester claims. Meier said that the burning will be intense, regardless of or because of how fast you’ll get through every workout.

Max Trainer M6 Delivery and Assembly

Standard delivery will deliver the Bowflex M6 to your residence and then leave it in the first covered area (usually your garage). You can also choose an in-home assembly, which costs $69 to get the M6. When you choose to have in-home assembly, the team of assembly workers will take your machine to an area you prefer and will put it together for you.

Pedals/Bowflex M6 Review

  • The pedals are extra-wide and designed to fit every size of shoe. There’s a small edge around the perimeter that holds your foot to the pedal. The surface is made of textured material to ensure the shoe won’t slip.
  • The pedal’s supple motion makes it feel like an elliptical, even though the movement is similar to the stepper. The large pedal is able to glide between the tracks. The fluid movement that is the Bowflex M6 Trainer allows it to be so, even when you’re doing your best, pushing and lifting every movement, the pedal can support your feet throughout the movement. This helps reduce any pain or injury that might arise when exercising using the Bowflex Max M6.

Handles/Bowflex M6 Reviews

  • The Bowflex M6 has three handle options. A pair of stationary handles connect to the console, and they are not moved. They have EKG grips attached to the handles that are stationary. If you are planning to perform exercises that focus on the lower part of your body, it is possible to utilize the stationary handles and concentrate on focusing on your glutes, quads, and hamstrings while pushing against heavy resistance.
  • Additionally, there is an adjustable set of handles that has two different extensions to allow you to find the perfect grip. One set of extension bars for the handle is vertically positioned towards the console, making them a good upright grip. They provide a balanced grip to help keep your elbows, wrists, and shoulders in line. The grips that are upwards will challenge your chest, shoulders, and thighs. Another aspect of the movable bars is that they angle downward towards the ribs of the person using them. They are ideal if you are looking to strengthen your triceps when you press, and biceps while pulling. The handlebars are covered with plastic caps on the bottom to provide security and safety.
  • As previously mentioned, the handles work in tandem with the pedals, so that movement is smooth between feet and hands.

Noise Level/Bowflex M6 Review

The Bowflex M6 Elliptical is quiet and has a moderate decibel level. It’s not as quiet as magnetic fitness bikes (which are almost silent); however, it’s certainly quieter than treadmills. But when you move your handlebars, there’s some sound and vibration which could be enough to be heard by others who are around you.

Storage / Folding/Bowflex M6 Review

The Bowflex M6 was not intended to fold. It weighs 150 pounds and is heavy to move. We recommend that, at a minimum, one person who is strong or two individuals who work together be able to move and lift the machine.

The front stabilizer has two wheels, which permit you to move it when needed; however, it’s an excellent piece of equipment, but it is somewhat heavy and bulky to move. We suggest you find a convenient place for it at your home, where you can use it without the need to move it often.

Conclusion:

The Bowflex M6 Trainer can be described as the introductory elliptical/stepper model within Bowflex’s Trainer range. Starting with Bowflex M6, progressing towards M8, and then reaching a peak with Max Total, Bowflex provides various Trainer variations.

We prefer the Bowflex M6 Max Trainer as it offers the same training for your entire body as the M8 and the Max Total, but at a much lower price. If you decide to install the JRNY app for your tablet, you’ll be able to get all of the videos and classes available in Max Trainer. They will show up on your tablet, not an integrated screen; however, the functionality is identical, which makes the Bowflex Max Trainer M6 an excellent value it is compared to its more expensive counterparts.

The JRNY app differs from other fitness applications in that it offers customized training. Its JRNY fitness assessment program first evaluates your level of fitness, then Max assists users through a series of exercises designed to help you achieve the fitness objectives you have set.

As you gain experience, Max uses your personal measurements to design a specific program of exercise that is specifically tailored to you. As you gain strength as you gain strength, your workouts get more difficult, helping you reach your weight loss and fitness goals. This system that is customized system is an improvement over similar fitness apps, which have a unidimensional approach to training.

Bowflex Max Trainer M6 is the direct, updated model that succeeds the M5. While both models offer the same core, low-impact stair-climber/elliptical hybrid motion and 16 resistance levels,  the M6 has enhanced console connectivity and smoother operation when compared to the M5's predecessor.

Yes, that is true, indeed, the Bowflex Max Trainer M6 is technically an Elliptical. However, it is an original hybrid machine. It blends the smooth and low-impact glide of an elliptical's traditional design with the high-calorie, vertical upward motion of a stepper.

It is the Bowflex Max Trainer M6 has an unassembled machine that weighs around 136 to 148 lbs (approx. 61.7 (approximately 61.7 to 67.1 kg) (approximately 61.7 to 67.1 kg), based on specific batches of manufacture and retail stores. It is designed to accommodate a maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs (136 kg).

Bowflex Max Trainer M6 is a better, highly upgraded version of the formerly discontinued M3. The M6 has a smoother experience with double its resistance, profiles for users and apps connectivity, while the M3 is a basic machine. M3 is a basic machine. The M6 wins out when it comes to modern technology, even though the M3 is often at a discount.

Experts Reviews for The Max Trainer

I'm better, look better, I've gotten rid of some of my screentime pudge. I've finally gained weight (in the right way).I began with slow, short bursts of energy, lasting until I began puffing/huffing. The first time I tried it: level 1.8 mph. I reached 0.3 miles. Yes, I am aware. Please don't make me look bad. It's a fact that I am physically disabled. I'm unable to cycle or run, swim, or jump, or bike. This is the sole repetitive-motion exercise (machine) that doesn't cause me harm.
Jordan Walker
I bought this elliptical when I was pregnant as I needed a low-impact method to stay active and often use it. The overall build quality was awe-inspiring to me straight out of the box. It feels solid, well-constructed, and stable when in use. I particularly appreciate the quiet and smoothness of it, making it simple to squeeze workouts within the space without disturbing others within the home.
Eleanor James
The machine is good for the money. It's not perfect; however, it's decent. I've had it for only two days and have been using it every day. I had the Amazon team build it. They were friendly and professional. The only thing I have to say about the machine is that it is used every time I utilize it (which typically lasts between 30 and 45 minutes). Three screws in one place loosen (mid-exercise) and cause it to shift a bit, and then eventually create the sound of a squeak if you do not tighten them. You can continue your exercise without tightening them up; however, I would like them to be tight. It takes approximately four seconds for them to be tightened; therefore, it's not as if you completely interrupt your workout. However, it can be somewhat irritating.
Marshall Zoe
So I am a fan of this Elliptical for its quietness, and how space-saving it is; however, it could be an issue with my particular model, but there's an excessive amount of oil and grease at the point between the left pedal and the part of the elliptical. It's not too significant, but it does get everywhere due to an intense workout. Also, it's not easy to clean up. I'm assuming that with time, this will decrease. I'm confident that the piece was assembled correctly, since the right foot doesn't have any problems, and was put together in the same manner. However, I've noticed that the left joint area gets looser and then gets louder after several workouts, and I've had to tighten it several times in the past. Also, considering the cost, this is not a problem, and I don't want to stop tightening it often.
